The St. Louis Rams have hired Steve Loney as offensive line coach and announced that Art Valero, appointed to the coaching staff earlier by head coach Scott Linehan, will serve as assistant head coach/running backs coach. Running backs coach Wayne Moses and secondary coach Willie Robinson were released.

Loney comes to the Rams after a stint as the interim head coach for the Drake University Bulldogs in 2007. Prior to that, Loney worked as the offensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals in 2006. He replaced Rams coach Scott Linehan as Minnesota’s offensive coordinator in 2005 after coaching the Vikings’ offensive line in 2004.

Valero has served the last six seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, most recently as assistant head coach/running backs. Valero spent 2004-2005 as running backs coach and began his NFL career as Tampa Bay’s tight ends coach, 2002-2003. Valero spent four seasons as the assistant head coach/offensive line coach at the University of Louisville before coming to the NFL.

Both Moses and Robinson held their respective positions with the Rams for the past two seasons.
