Former Letter Carrier Accused of Keeping Mail

January 16, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

A former St. Charles mail carrier is accused of keeping more than 900 pieces of mail.

A federal indictment names John Johnson, who has not been arrested. Investigators say he kept the undelivered mail in his car. The U.S. Postal Service says about 200 pieces of mail eventually were delivered after they were found in late November.

A USPS spokesman says the rest of the items were advertising circulars, most of them time sensitive, so they were thrown away.
