Foxsports.com is reporting on their website that pending physicals, the Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays will make a straight up trade, Scott Rolen for Troy Glaus.

On the surface this would appear to be a good trade for both teams with Rolen’s strained relationship with Card’s manager Tony LaRussa and Troy Glaus’ injuries on turf.  Looking at their stats head to head, Rolen hits a little more for average.  He’s a career .283 hitter, Glaus at .254  However, Glaus is known a little more for his power.  In 2005 with Arizona he hit 37 homers, followed by 38 in 06 with Toronto.  Even last year in 115 games, he hit 20.  Rolen, of course has pop in his bat, but last year had just 8 has he battled through re-curring shoulder problems.

A change of scenary may be best suited for these players and could help both the Cards and the Jays.  The question would be the money situation.  Glaus has two years remaining on a contract that will pay him $24 million, Rolen, three years left that will play him $33 million, plus Rolen has an option for a fourth year
