Speedy Trial Violation Claim Rejected in Court

January 8, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

A St. Louis man who says his right to a speedy trial has been so badly violated that charges against him should be dismissed has lost his case in Circuit Court. The judge says the delay in Tracy McKee’s case has not hurt his opportunity to mount a defense. The judge calls the 19-months of delays "unfortunate," but says it’s because of the number of cases that were in line ahead of him.

McKee is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle. He has filed five motions on his own asking for a speedy trial.  His newest trial date is January 28th.
