Pettis County Youngster Gets New Heart for Christmas

December 26, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

A family from Green Ridge has received the best kind of Christmas present – a new heart for their four-year-old daughter. Clifton and Lena Billings and their daughter Olivia have been waiting for seven months for the call that finally came through on Saturday. A heart was available and within hours Olivia had the new heart and after some initial problems getting it beating, she is now resting comfortably in the cardiac intensive care unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Olivia had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, which causes one side of the heart to get bigger to offset a weak muscle on the other side.

Green Ridge is in Pettis County, southwest of Sedalia.
