The State Corrections Department has decided to keep convicted sex offender Michael Devlin in a Missouri prison.Devlin has been sentenced to 74 life prisons terms and four other prison terms for kidnapping two young boys and sexually abusing them. Corrections Director Larry Crawford says the decision to house Devlin in a Missouri prison was made the same way decisions are made on any other prisoner–by considering such issues as risk, medical needs, length of sentence, and other factors. He says speculation that Devlin would be transferred to another state was just that–speculation. Crawford says Devlin is one of about 4,000 sex offenders in the state prison system. Devlin has been at the evaluation center in St. Joseph for several months. Crawford says a decision on which prison he’ll go to will be made in a short time. He doubts a public announcement will be made of which prison will get him.
