Blunt and Nixon Campaigns Spar Over Credit Card Expense Reports

November 29, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The Blunt reelection campaign is taking aim at Democratic challenger Jay Nixon, saying his campaign has violated campaign finance law by failing to itemize credit card expenditures on expense reports that have been filed over the last three years. Missourians for Matt Blunt Spokesman John Hancock says anyone looking at the reports must be able to determine how expense dollars were spent.

Oren Shur with the Jay Nixon for Governor campaign says it will begin itemizing credit card reports … and will go back and amend the earlier reports. He adds this is nothing more than a politically motivated attack on the part of the Governor.

The State Ethics Commission was asked to clarify the rules regarding credit card itemization, and issued its opinion that expenses must be listed.
