Kansas City is preparing for crowds of people from Missouri and Kansas who are heading to town for Saturday night’s big Missouri-Kansas football game at Arrowhead Stadium. Many of them will be attending the game … while others will be patronizing the sports bars in Kansas City.

Stadium officials say there will be added security at Arrowhead, especially on the field. They want to make sure fans don’t rush the field after the game. While not giving numbers, Kansas City police say the contingent of off-duty police officers working the stadium will be about 30 percent higher than it is for the average Chiefs game.

As for beer, it will be sold, but the taps at the stadium will be shut off after halftime. Not so at sports bars throughout the Kansas City area, where the booze will flow before, during, and after the game. Police will be watching the areas around town where many of those establishments are located, especially Westport, where a big influx of fans is expected.
