It’s called Black Friday – the day after Thanksgiving and one of the most important days of the year for the nation’s retailers as they get an indication of what to expect in the way of sales during the holiday shopping season.

David Overfelt, President of the Missouri Retailers Association, says that while Black Friday is not the busiest shopping day of the year, it’s a critical one with a lot of bargains up for grabs.

Overfelt says retailers are anticipating a 4 percent growth in sales over last year’s totals – down from an average 4.8 percent growth rate over the last decade. He adds 4 percent growth is nothing to sneeze at and should make this a pretty good Christmas for retailers.
