A former aide to Governor Blunt says the Governor’s office has sent his lawyers copies of two e-mails that seem to bolster his case. Scott Eckersley says he was fired after he warned Blunt Administration officials they were violating the state Sunshine Law by erasing a lot of e-mails from office computers.

Among the documents the Governor’s office sent to Eckersley are copies of two e-mails from a former Blunt speech writer, Jonathan Bunch. In one of the e-mails Bunch says he can’t believe the controversy has lasted as long as it has. It encourages Eckersley to find a way to get someone to pay attention to the law and kill the issue before it lasts another week. Attorney General Jay Nixon has appointed an independent investigate team to dig into the issue.
