Governor Blunt’s security guard has shoved a couple of persistent Kansas City Star reporters away from the Governor’s car, as the reporters asked him about the controversial firing of a former staff attorney. Blunt was leaving a VFW ceremony during which he had awarded medals to Vietnam veterans and was on his way to another ceremony in St. Joseph when the reporters began asking him questions about the firing of former staffer Scott Eckersley in September.

Eckersley says he was fired because he challenged the Governor’s policy on deleting office e-mails which Eckersley maintains were public records.  Blunt says he was fired because of poor work performance and for doing personal business on state computers.

The incident was videotaped by the Star and is on the Kansas City Star Web site    www.kcstar.com .
