Report on NWMSU Shooting Praises University’s Crisis Management Plan

November 2, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The Co-Chairs of the Campus Security Task Force have issued their after-action report of last weekend’s shooting on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.

Public Safety Director Mark James and Higher Education Commissioner Robert Stein say the University had a solid crisis management plan in place, and that its implementation proved invaluable. The emergency operations plan had responders working well together. In addition, warnings were issued immediately and with specificity to members of the campus community.

Governor Matt Blunt says the incident is a reminder of the importance of colleges and universities maintaining and reviewing a current all hazards crisis management plan.
