Mike Sweeney of the Royals filed for free agency yesterday, stating that the Royals weren’t ready to discuss contracts just yet.  Although it appears Sweeney’s career is coming to an end in Kansas City, General manager Dayton Moore hasn’t shut the door completely.

The Royals also bought out Odalis Perez’s contract for 1.5 million, instead of paying him 9 million to keep him next year.  And releiver David Riske filed for free agency not taking the player option guaranteed 2.9 million for next year.
