From Bryan Boettcher, Northwest Missouri State Athletic Department:

Northwest seniors Xavier Omon and Jared Erspamer have been named the MIAA’s Offensive and Defensive Football Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ended Oct. 29. Both were instrumental in helping Northwest clinch at least a share of its second consecutive MIAA championship this past weekend with its 28-27 win against Washburn.

Erspamer had a team-high 13 tackles and was voted by the media as the Don Black Award winner, given to the Northwest Homecoming Most Valuable Player. Nine of his tackles were solo stops and five were recorded behind the line-of-scrimmage. He also had one tackle on special teams for a 3-yard loss on a punt return.

Omon recorded his 13 th consecutive 100-yard effort and scored two touchdowns in the win. He carried 32 times for 143 yards and tied the game at 21-21 with his 1-yard leap into the end zone on fourth down.

Omon was the nation’s leading scorer heading into the contest and needs 247 yards to become the first Division II player to rush for 1,500 yards in four seasons.
