Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff says Winston Churchill would have understood the war on terror….and his advice for winning it would be similar to his advice on how to win the cold war.

Standing on the same stage in Fulton where Churchill gave his famous "Iron Curtain" speech in 19-46, Chertoff recalled Churchill’s warnings against complacency on the eve of World War Two…and on the eve of the Cold War.

Chertoff says the United States cannot let Islamic terrorists achieve two "monumental goals." He says they cannot be allowed to gain access to nuclear weapons because they WILL use them. He says they cannot be allowed to achieve their second goal: possession and control of a nation state from which they can organize and launch new attacks much as he says they used their domination of Afghanistan to launch their 2001 attacks on the United States.

Chertoff says the free world must maintain the same strength and resolve it showed during the cold war.
