St. Louis police officers have voted "no confidence" in Chief Joe Mokwa.

Fewer than half of the members of the Police Officers Association took part in the vote but 56 percent of those who did said they do not have confidence in the way Mokwa runs the department.

The association says the department is "dangerously understaffed." A spokesman says he hopes the vote prompts Mokwa to work harder to get better pay for officers and get more officers.
