The Children’s Division of the Department of Social Services is getting some positive reviews from an international, independent, non-profit organization that accredits behavioral health care and social service programs.

The Council on Accreditation is in the process of reviewing the performance of all of the state’s 45 child protection system circuits or divisions, and has approved about a dozen. Sara Anderson with the Department of Social Services says accreditation of these circuits comes on the heels of compliance with stated goals for taking care of kids.

A major focus of the Children’s Division is on reducing worker caseloads. Caseload reduction is evident in improvements to standards in such areas as foster care, adoption services, and child protection services.
