Greinke Shuts Down White Sox With Career High 10 K’s

September 20, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

This has to be one of Zach Greinke’s finest starts for the Royals.  First the good news.  The Royals win 3-0, split the series with Sox and remain in fourth place.  Now for the better news.  Greinke, 8 innings, 2 hits, and as I mentioned 10 strikeouts.  Soria, picks up the save in the 9 th .

Back to back doubles by John Buck and Tony Pena Jr, and a sacrifice fly by Esteban German got the Royals on the board with two runs in the sixth off Sox starter John Garland.  Pena would add a sacrifice fly in the eigth.

For Greinke, it’s his second win since going back in the starting rotation.  I love stats and Royals fans will love this one.  Against the White Sox this year, 15 2/3 innings pitched, 0 runs, 5 hits, 1 walk, and 14 strikeouts.
