The proposal of the University of Missouri’s Columbia chancellor to make the Columbia campus the University of Missouri without designating the city where it’s located is generating a lot of heat within the university family. Chancellors of the three other campuses are strongly objecting, especially the chancellors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

St. Louis Chancellor Thomas George says the proposal would weaken the University as a whole. The faculty senate on the Kansas City campus has approved a resolution against the proposal and charges the Columbia campus, in effect, wants to hog the research money going to the University.
