Missouri Misses Out on Premiere of Jesse James Movie

September 17, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The new movie about Jesse James premieres next Friday, with Missouri boy Brad Pitt as Jesse. But it won’t debut anywhere in Missouri, the home state of Jesse or Brad….and it certainly won’t have a debut in St. Joseph, where the event that gave the movie its name took place.

The movie is called “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” It was shot entirely in Canada. A spokesman for the St. Joseph Convention and Visitors Bureau calls the lack of attention to St. Joseph by the movie’s producers “disheartening.”

She tells the St. Joseph News-Press the movie’s producers consider St. Joseph “small potatoes.”

The movie opens in New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Austin, Texas next Friday.
