A new college scholarship program has been adjusted to keep up with rising demand.
The upshot is that the new $45-Million Access Missouri Scholarship program created by the Legislature will provide $1,500, rather than the $2,100 legislators envisioned. Maximum awards to private university students have been reduced from $4,600 to $3,000. The state says far more students than expected have qualified for the scholarships, which are based on family income.
