The Pittsburgh Pirates belted out 16 hits en route to an 11-0 shut out over the St. Louis Cardinals Monday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Bucs’ shortstop Jack Wilson had 4 hits on the day as he drove in 3 runs and scored a pair. One of Wilson’s hits was his 8 th home run of the season, a two run shot in the 5 th inning. Jose Bautista homered, as well, a bases empty shot in the 1 st inning. He ended up with 2 hits and 2 runs batted in.

Ian Snell (9-11) pitched 7 scoreless innings for the win, allowing 5 hits while striking out 4. Redbirds’ starter Kip Wells (6-16) had a rough outing, chased from the game after 3 1/3 innings, having given up 6 earned runs on 10 hits.

The Cardinals (67-67) and the Pirates (60-77) play again Tuesday at Busch Stadium. Joel Pineiro (4-3) takes the mound for St. Louis against former Cardinal Matt Morris (8-8) for Pittsburgh.
