A Boonville man has been convicted of defrauding a Raymondville farmer in a cattle sale.

A jury has convicted Robert Simmons of unlawful merchandising practices and recommends he serve six months in jail or in prison and pay a fine.

Southeast Missouri farmer Randy Kell of Raymondville says he paid more than 300-thousand dollars for healthy cattle. But Kell claimed the cattle he got were in poor condition and inferior to the ones he ordered.

Five other people had been charged in the case. Two pleaded guilty.d agreed to deferred prosecution in return for his cooperation. The case against a fifth person was later dismissed.
