He has known for almost a decade that he was innocent….that he did not kidnap and rape a Springfield woman—although she claimed he did and picked him out of a lineup.

A jury convicted Armand Villasena of Springfield in 199 but he was never sentenced because DNA evidence submitted by his attorney after the conviction showed he could not have done the crime. .

But now, another examination of the DNA evidence says Villasana definitely was not involved and the woman who accused him has admitted she made up the story to hide an extramarital affaiir. For the first time, the prosecutor is saying Villasena is innocent.

He says he regrets not being able to spend time with his mother when she was dying from cancer, while he was in jail for 21 months. Some people might hold a grudge but not Armand Villasana. "I’m a Christian man; I don’t want revenge on anybody," he says. His lawyer is less charitable and says the woman could be facing a civil lawsuit.
