Prior to last night’s start against the Rangers, Royals starting pitcher Gil Meche had been knocked around quite a bit, losing four straight decisions.  Last night, Meche pitched well enough for the win, but instead took his fifth straight loss in the Rangers 4-3 win.

Meche pitched 6.1 innings and gave up just five hits and only two earned runs, but the Royals bats could never crack Ranger’s starter Vicente Padilla.  Alex Gordon, John Buck, Joey Gathright, and Tony Pena Jr stranded 14 runners at the bottom of the order.

The Royals rallied for two runs in the 9th, but came up short.  They’ll look to take one from the Rangers when they wrap up the series tonight.
