Missouri’s gas prices are among the lowest in the country. On average, only South Carolina and Mississippi are lower. But there are big price differences within Missouri, and a number of web sites can help drivers to find the fill up best prices.

GasBuddy.com is the umbrella site for approximately 180 regional and local sites throughout the country that track and report prices at individual gas stations. Those regional sites include MissouriGasPrices.com , KCGasPrices.com , and StLouisGasPrices.com .

Jason Toews, Co-founder of GasBuddy.com, says it’s through comparing and contrasting prices that consumers can save money at the pump. The people who keep track of the prices are ordinary folks who, while driving to work or other places on their daily commutes, take note of prices at gas stations along the way. They then report the prices to their local or regional web sites.

As of Monday morning, Missouri’s lowest prices for regular unleaded gasoline were found at a number of stations in Jackson in southeast Missouri – $2.39 a gallon. The highest was found at a station in Nelson in central Missouri – $2.85 a gallon.

Anyone can be a contributor, but newer members are scrutinized to be sure they are not listing incorrect information. GasBuddy.com is paid for entirely through advertising revenue.
