Man Wounded in KC Police Shootout Dies

August 8, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

One of the men wounded in a shootout with Kansas City police yesterday has died.

The shooting started when police tried to pull over a car, and continued for about 20 blocks. One officer fired more than 20 shots from a rifle and apparently hit one of the people in the car. Three others in the car have been arrtested.

It was the second gunfight of the day between Kansas City police and someone in a car. In the earlier one, two officers were wounded–one critically. Two people in the car were arrested.

Police say the incidents have resulted in one of the cells of a violent drug gang being taken off the streets. A police spokesman says the most seriiously-wounded officer still has three bullets in him but he will recover.
