The Kansas City Royals snapped a three game losing streak downing the Minnesota Twins 5-1 in the first of a three game series last night at Kaufmann Stadium.

The game was delayed in the eigth inning due to a power outage that caused a number of the lights in the ballpark to go dark.

Royals starter Brian Bannister pitched lights out in the victory.  Bannister went seven strong, scattering six hits with one walk resulting in one run with a strikeout. Mark Teahen had four hits and five different Royals drove in runs.

Game two of the series is set for this evening.
