After getting his first win of the season on Saturday, Cardinals pitcher Anthony Reyes bought himself more time with club.  Instead of being sent back down to AAA Memphis, Reyes is back in the rotation for the time being and will start on Thursday against Pittsburgh.  If ready, newly acquired Joel Pineiro could start as early as Saturday in Washington.

The way it’s set up right now, it would be Braden Looper tonight, Reyes tomorrow, followed by Kip Wells, Pineiro, Mike Maroth or Brad Thompson Saturday, and Adam Wainwright on Sunday.

Cardinal fans are excited about being just six back in the NL Central.  After this weekend, it will be interesting to see how this rotation sets up.  Looper and Wainwright are right at, or just above a .500 record, those are the type of numbers you would expect from your third, fourth, or fifth pitcher in the rotation.  Wells, Maroth, and Thompson have not gotten the job done.  Does the rotation have enough to make a push the last two months and make up six games?
