The Chicago Cubs hammered out 14 hits on the way to a 7-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night at Busch Stadium. It was the second win in as many nights for the Cubs in this showdown of National League Central Division rivals.

On a positive note for the Redbirds, Juan Encarnacion went 4 for 4 with the Cards’ sole RBI.

Cubs’ starter Ted Lilly (11-4) gave up only 1 earned run in 7 innings of work to get the win. St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (9-8) surrendered 6 earned runs on 9 hits in 5 innings to take the loss.

The Cardinals (45-52) and the Cubs (53-56) close out their three game series Thursday night at Busch Stadium. Braden Looper (7-8) goes to the mound for the Cards against Chicago’s Jason Marquis (7-5).
