Number of Highway Deaths Declines

July 24, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

Highway deaths in this country took their biggest drop in 15 years last year, compared to 2005. And Missouri had the biggest decline in numbers. Missouri had 161 fewer fatalities last year than it did the year earlier. This was one of 27 states that saw decreases in highway deaths.

Missouri highway officials think the lower fatalities are at least partly because of the installation of cables in the Interstate medians and construction efforts that have smoothed pavements, added rumble stripes to the shoulders, and have added brighter signs.
