Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) is raising a lot of big bucks for his re-election bid, which has yet to be officially announced.

A new fundraising report for the second quarter of 2007 shows the Governor’s supporters contributed a total of $1.7-Million. The report also shows the Governor has more than $5.8-Million on hand.

During the quarter that ended June 30th, Blunt’s campaign received contributions from 6,947 financial supporters from throughout the state.

Blunt’s likely opponent in next year’s race for the Governor’s office, Attorney General Jay Nixon (D-MO), raked in more than one-million dollars during the second quarter. The money came from 7,716 contributors in all regions of the state.
