The American League has extended its dominance over the National League in Major League Baseball’s All-Star, edging the Senior Circuit 5-4 in Tuesday’s Midsummer Classic in San Francisco.

But the two playing representatives of Missouri’s Major League teams didn’t figure in the outcome. In fact, Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals and Gil Meche of the Kansas City Royals sat out the contest in their respective dugouts.

The game featured three home runs, including the All-Star Game’s first-ever inside-the-park home run, which was hit by Ichiro Suzuki in the 5 th inning.

The American League has now won 10 of the last 11 games, with one of those games ending in a tie.
