MU Basketball Player Grimes Suspended

July 9, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

University of Missouri basketball player Kalen Grimes has been suspended from the team indefinitely after being arrested over the weekend in Florissant. Police say the 21-year-old Grimes was arrested early Saturday morning following a fight. Tigers’ Coach Mike Anderson has released a statement expressing his disappointment in Grimes’ actions. The suspension prevents Grimes from working out with the team.

Another MU basketball player, DeMarre Carroll, was recently shot during an incident in Columbia. Carroll, who is Anderson’s nephew, was treated at a hospital and released.

A statement from Anderson says that although the incidents are different, he understands the cumulative effect these events can have on the perception of a program and wants to assure such incidents will be dealt with appropriately.
