Dam operators at Truman Lake and the Lake of the Ozarks are preparing for a slug of Osage River floodwater coming from Kansas. The United States Army Corps of Engineers expects the Kansas floodwater to drive the reservoir at Truman Dam to a level 17 feet above the normal pool.

The National Weather Service says the Osage River above Truman Lake is at record levels, and is pouring four times as much water into the Lake every second as the Corps is allowed to release through the dam.

Releases from Truman Dam are limited to avoid flooding at the Lake of the Ozarks, downstream, and the Osage River below Bagnall Dam.
