The St. Louis Cardinals had a rough night at the plate, managing to score only 1 run on 5 hits as the Cincinnati Reds downed the Redbirds 5-1 Saturday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

The Cards led early with a run in the 2 nd inning, but the Reds came back with 2 runs in the 5 th and 3 more runs in the 6 th . Scott Hatteberg accounted for both 5 th inning runs as he belted his 12 th home run of the year with one man on.

Kyle Lohse (4-10) pitched 7 innings for the win. Adam Wainwright (6-7) gave up 5 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss.

The Cardinals (35-42) and the Reds (32-50) close out their weekend series Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati with Mike Maroth (5-2) pitching for the Redbirds against the Reds’ Homer Bailey (2-1).
