June 29, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The St. Louis Cardinals are in Cincinnati to open a weekend series with the Reds at Great American Ballpark after the finale of a scheduled four game series between the Redbirds and the Mets in New York was rained out Thursday. No makeup date has been announced.

Adam Wainwright (6-6) who was scheduled to pitch Thursday’s contest at Shea Stadium, takes the mound for Friday’s game. He’ll face Bronson Arroyo (2-9).

The Kansas City Royals had an off day Thursday. They’re coming off a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, opening a weekend series with the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Stadium. Brian Bannister (4-4) pitches against the Southsiders’ Jose Contreras (5-8). The Royals are on a four game winning streak.
