The St. Louis Cardinals evened their weekend series with Philadelphia, blasting the Phillies 8-3 Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Chris Duncan and Juan Encarnacion led the way with the bats for the Recbirds. Encarnacion hit a three-run homer in the 4 th inning, his 5 th home run of the season, while Duncan belted a two-run homer in the 6 th for his 14 th roundtripper of the year.

Adam Wainwright (6-6) pitched 6 strong innings for the win, giving up 2 earned runs on 7 hits. Philadelphia starter Adam Eaton (7-5) gave up 6 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

The Cards (33-38) and Phillies (38-36) wrap up their series Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Kip Wells (3-11) goes to the mound for the Redbirds against Philadelphia’s Cole Hamels (9-3).
