The state government has launched a website aimed at publicizing one of this nation’s great rivers – the Missouri River.

Bryan Hopkins with the State Department of Natural Resources says this website is a gateway to the Missouri River Lewis & Clark Water Trail , which at 550 miles will be the longest river water trail in the country.

The site has everything most people would need to know to begin the process of exploring and enjoying the Missouri River. It has detailed maps with access points and points of interest. There is also information on safety with tips on navigating the river. With 150 miles of the Katy Trail State Park’s 225 miles already along the river, many amenities already exist to support the water trail.

The website is a joint effort of the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Conservation, and the Department of Economic Development’s Division of Tourism.

The Internet site is www.missouririverwatertrail.org .
