Cards Bounce Back From Early Deficit to Beat Athletics 10-6

The St. Louis Cardinals bounced back from an early 5-1 deficit defeat the A’s 10-6 in Oakland Sunday afternoon to take two out of the three games played this weekend at McAfee Coliseum.

Ryan Ludwick had 3 hits and 5 runs batted in, including a three-run homer off Oakland reliever and losing pitcher Colby Lewis (0-2). Scott Spiezio also homered for the Cardinals. Jack Cust went deep for Oakland.

Redbirds’ starter Anthony Reyes pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 3. Reliever Russ Springer (3-0) struck out 2 batters in 1 inning of work to earn the victory.

The Cardinals (30-36) head home to host Part 2 of the 2007 I-70 Series as they host the Kansas City Royals (28-42) Monday night at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright (5-5) pitches for the Cards against Odalis Perez (3-7) for the Royals.
