Ken Griffey Junior, Edwin Encarnacion, and Adam Dunn each belted home runs to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday night at Busch Stadium.

Cincinnati starter and winning pitcher Kyle Lohse (3-7) effectively shut down the Redbirds for the first eight innings. He ran into a bit of trouble in the 9 th , giving up the Cards’ only run.

Adam Wainwright (4-5) pitched six innings for the Cardinals, giving up four earned runs on eight hits to take the loss.

The Cardinals (23-31) open a weekend series at Busch Stadium Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Kip Wells (2-10) goes to the mound for St. Louis while Bartolo Colon (5-2) pitches for the Halos.
