The search for an 18-year-old Kansas woman who went missing from an Overland Park Target store Saturday evening appears to have come to a tragic end.

A body has been found across the state line in Grandview, Missouri – south of Kansas City. Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass said, at a news conference Wednesday afternoon, that the body is believed to be that of Kelsey Smith. The body has not yet been positively identified.

The area in which the body was found became a search area after police discovered that Kelsey Smith’s cell phone had signaled a tower in that vicinity after she went missing. Police from several departments, including the FBI, were involved in the search. Authorities say that while they do not have any suspects, they are talking to numerous people.
