A Marine Corps board has recommended that Reserve Corporal Adam Kokesh lose his honorable discharge because he wore part of his uniform to an anti-war demonstration and cursed a superior officer who was investigating the incident..

The board meeting in Kansas City has recommended Kokesh be considered as  having a general discharge under honorable conditions. That’s less punitive than the recommendation that he be given an "other than honorable" discharge. Regulations say that "general discharge" recognizes he served faithfully but there were some negative aspects of his record. The negative aspects are that Kokesh wore part of his uniform to an anti-war rally, and cursed a superior officer investigating the incident.

The board rejected a recommendation that he get an "other than honorable" discharge. His new recommendation would allow him to keep his benefits. The final decision will be made by the commanding general of the Mobilization Command.

He says he does not know who is behind the action against him. He says it might just be an angry general who wanted to shut him up.

Kokesh says the action violates his freedom of speech. He plans to contest the ruling.
