The Indians put it away in the 5 th , scoring four runs. Kansas City put two runs across the plate in the 8 th inning to close out the scoring.

Cleveland starter Jeremy Sowers (1-4) pitched seven innings for the win. K.C. starter Jorge De La Rosa (4-4) gave up nine earned runs in 4 1/3 innings for the loss.
