An appeal hearing intended to give the St. Louis School District an opportunity to change the State Board of Education’s decision to "unaccredit" St. Louis Public Schools as of June 15th has been cancelled. The hearing had been scheduled for next Tuesday, but was called off at the request of Diana Bourisaw, the Superintendent of Schools in St. Louis.
This is not the end of the St. Louis School District’s effort to have the decision overturned. St. Louis officials intend to submit their appeal, in writing, to State Education Commissioner Kent King and will have until Memorial Day, May 28th, to do so. State policy allows the school district to appeal the March 22nd State Board of Education decision to the Commissioner, who will decide whether to ask the State Board to reconsider its original decision.
