Drury University to Extend Benefits to Partners of Gay Employees

May 17, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

Drury University in Springfield is going to start granting benefits to employees who have gay or lesbian partners, starting June first. The board of the school has approved the policy. However, unmarried partners of heterosexual faculty members are still ineligible for benefits.

A spokesman says the new policy for gay and lesbian faculty members is an affirmation of the worth and dignity of the university community.

Springfield has two other universities. Neither of them have similar policies.
