John Buck smashed a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, snapping a scoreeless tie, to give the Kansas City Royals a 2-1 victory over the Oakland A’s last night. The win was the Royals second straight, winning consecutive matchups for just the thrid time this season. Gil Meche pitched well for KC again, not allowing a run over seven innings, but did not figure in the decision. In relief, Jimmy Gobble gets the win while Joakim Soria notched his 7th save of the year. The Royals and A’s will play game 2 of the 4 game series tonight in Oakland.
