Padres Shut-Out Cards 3-0

The St. Louis Cardinals were shut out for the sixth time this season as they lost the rubber game of their weekend series against the Padres, losing 3-0 Sunday afternoon in San Diego.

The Cardinals were held to three hits, all off Padres starter and winning pitcher Justin Germano (1-0), who didn’t let a Cardinal reach base until Scott Rolen broke the perfect game and no hitter with a single to centerfield the 5 th inning. Trevor Hoffman pitched a perfect 9 th inning to pick up his tenth save of the season. Anthony Reyes (0-6) pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits, while striking out five batters.

The Cards (15-20) move up the West Coast to Los Angeles to open a series with the Dodgers on Monday. Brad Thompson (1-0) pitches for the Redbirds against Brett Tomko (1-3) for L.A.
