The Kansas City Royals lose their third straight game, coming out on the short end of a 2-1 pitchers duel against the White Sox in Chicago on Friday.
The Royals were held to two hits until the 9 th inning when Mark Grudzielanek doubled home Esteban German from second base for Kansas City’s first and only run of the contest.
The White Sox had scored in the 4 th and 5 th innings for the only two runs they would need. One of those runs was an A.J. Pierzynski home run, his sixth round-tripper of the year.
Royals starter Odalis Perez (2-4) took the loss despite 7 strong innings in which he gave up two earned runs on five hits. Jon Garland (2-2) pitched 8.1 innings for the win. Bobby Jenks recorded one out in the 9 th to pick up his save number 12.
