Cards Edged 3-2 by Rockies

May 8, 2007 By admin Leave a Comment

The St. Louis Cardinals lose for the seventh time in nine games, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Colorado Rockies at Busch Stadium.

The winning run was scored in 9th inning when Brad Hawpe walked with the bases loaded, scoring Troy Tulowitzki from third base. The Cardinals managed to get two runners on in the bottom of the 9th but could not tie the score.

On a positive note, Redbirds’ pitcher Anthony Reyes (0-5) had a quality start, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He struck out five. Brian Falkenborg (0-1) took the loss after giving up an earned run in one third of an inning. Zach McClellon (1-0) pitched one inning of relief for the win. Brian Fuentes pitched one inning for his 8th save.

The Cards and Rockies go at it again tonight. Brad Thompson (1-0) takes the mound for the Cards against Colorado’s Taylor Buchholz (1-1).
